Synaptics Privacy Policy

Your privacy is our concern. This privacy statement explains how personal data is collected and used by SYNAPTICS | Scrybe™ products. This Privacy Policy pertains only to the Scrybe™ product; it does not apply to other Synaptics’ online or offline products, nor to products and practices of companies that Synaptics does not own or control. Companies and products that partner with Synaptics have their own pre-existing privacy policies which may be viewed on their respective websites.

Information Disclosure

Synaptics will not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to outside parties. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information (e.g., PC hardware identification numbers, operating system, website URLs, Scrybe symbol usage) may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

Information Collection

We collect information from you when:

  • When you register your Scrybe software during the installation process:

    Registration: When installing Scrybe software or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your: name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number. You may, however, use Scrybe software or visit our site anonymously.
  • When you choose to Opt-in to the Automatic Update service

    Automatic Update Service: The Automatic Update Service allows Scrybe revisions to our software to be automatically downloaded to your computer. When enabled, this service will allow the Scrybe application to periodically poll the Synaptics Update server for new versions of the product. The information passed from your computer to the Automatic Update Service includes data representing your computer hardware and operating system configuration.
  • When you choose to Opt-in to the User Experience Improvement Program

    User Experience Improvement Program: The User Experience Improvement Program collects information about your hardware and operating system configuration, and may include your IP address, an identification number that may map to your registration information, TouchPad usage information, Scrybe symbol usage, applications and websites that are launched using the Scrybe product. This information is used by Synaptics to personalize your user experience, improve existing product offerings, to enhance the design of future product offerings, and to improve our support services.
  • When you choose to Opt-in to the Error Reporting Service

    Error Reporting Service: The Error Reporting Service provides Synaptics with periodic error reports that are logged on your PC. These reports contain information specific to Scrybe product error conditions and may contain error codes and system environment information. This information is used by Synaptics to help resolve product issues and improve product functionality.
  • Choosing to Opt-out

    Once an end-user has opted-in to the Automatic Update Service, the User Experience Improvement Program , the Error Reporting Service, any Scrybe user can opt-out of these services and may change their registration data by simply sending an email to support@synaptics.com with your Opt-out intent and/or change in registration fields clearly stated in the body of the email.

Third Party Vendors and Privacy

Synaptics works with vendors, partners and service providers to offer you enhanced services such as the Scrybe™ product. Non-personally identifiable information may be passed to these companies via their representatives who work on behalf of Synaptics under confidentiality agreements.

Information Protection

Synaptics implements a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you access your personal information. We limit access to your personal information to employees that need to in order to perform their job functions in providing better products and services.

The Use of Cookies

Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the sites or service providers’ systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information.

This online privacy policy applies only to information collected through our Scrybe product, your personally identifiable information and not to information collected offline.

Synaptics may update this policy to reflect changes in the way we treat personal information. If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this document and send notifications of significant changes via your primary email address.
